PHILADELPHIA–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Philadelphia native and rising architectural star Plato A. Marinakos, Jr., announced today that he will host a delegation of China’s premiere architects as they tour the United States in a cultural exchange and learning mission. The group of Chinese Architects known as Arch 100 have designed and created some of China’s most magnificent new architectural wonders, including some of the awe-inspiring designs built in Beijing for the 2008 Olympics.
“Plato-Studio was created to fulfill the need of designing and building based as much on the sciences of engineering and ecology, as it is on the pure aesthetic of design. Arch 100 understands this approach and it has been the cornerstone of Chinese architecture for the past 2500 years”
The purpose of the Arch 100 meeting is to meet with leading architects throughout the world to discuss, plan and prepare for implementation of issues that will most impact architecture, building and sustainability throughout the next few decades. Marinakos has been chosen to host the delegation because of his experience as an architect within China and because his new architecture house, Plato-Studio, is already a leader in sustainable and “smart” design.
“As a matter of fact, the word ecology is quite good. It’s a pity that it has become a cliché. Nowadays, political, economic and cultural circles in the world are shouting one phrase in different languages, that is ‘sustainable development’. In my opinion, it stems from ecology, but is given the meaning of development. Its core connotation is organic, vital and infinite, which is a beneficial relay of creation and the genuine pursuit in the history of civilization,” said Luo Li, General Secretary of Architectural Biennial Beijing.
“Plato-Studio was created to fulfill the need of designing and building based as much on the sciences of engineering and ecology, as it is on the pure aesthetic of design. Arch 100 understands this approach and it has been the cornerstone of Chinese architecture for the past 2500 years,” said Plato Marinakos, Jr., CEO, Plato-Studio.
