Care for God’s Creation: Environmental Justice
The Environmental Justice Project brings a unique Catholic voice to California’s efforts to reduce air and water pollution and counter the effects of climate change, especially as they harm the poor and vulnerable.

Background
Since we began in 2005, the Environmental Justice Project has:
- Helped win passage of California’s landmark law to reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent
- Distributed 10,000 energy efficient light bulbs after Masses for Environmental Justice Sunday
- Launched battery recycling drop-off programs and free electronic waste collection days at local parishes
- Partnered with the National Catholic Rural Life Conference to hold Care for Creation workshops in the Stockton Diocese.
