Eco-terrorism threat rises, federal police say

Eco-terrorists, prepared to act violently in defence of environmental causes, are posing an increased threat in Switzerland, the Swiss Federal Police (Fedpol) says.
In its newly issued 2010 report, Fedpol sees left-wing anarchists, animal rights activist and eco-terrorists forming an increasingly united and violent front.
This conclusion is in part based on probable links discovered between the anarchists sentenced on Friday for trying to blow up an IBM building and other attacks that occurred recently.
The police report mentions the letter bomb sent to Swissnuclear last March and a similar attack at the Swiss embassy in Rome at the end of last year.
